Sometimes you have to reflect on the past, learn from it to move forward. As you can see the picture of the NES controller, what does that represent? For me, it represents my childhood, and my present and future. How can it represent all of those timelines? The Nintendo Entertainment System was released when I was a kid so it represents that era for me, for my present, I have rediscovered the joy of the classic gaming. How it represents the future is that I will continue to play retro games as I build my library, as I mentioned in the first post, I am working through the iconic video game franchises game by game. Games that I enjoyed as a kid to game to games I have always heard about but never got to play, to some of todays games.
Ask yourself, when you see the NES controller, what does that represent for you? Let me know in the comments.
Again, there are so many things to play, read, listen, and watch, it is overwhelming as I want to do everything, unfortunately, there is one thing that gets in my way, that is TIME! So I give myself permission to work through all of my “wants” as time permits.
The purpose of this blog for me, it to bring you along with me while I revisit and discover old and new things, maybe some of my ideas may inspire you to revisit your past.
As promised, here is the list of 20 things that I am currently working through:
- 1923
- Call of Duty – Classic (PS3)
- Racing (Daytona)
- Elder Scrolls Arena (Steam)
- God of War (PS3)
- Kashu Igazuru (book)
- Kingdom Hearts (PS2)
- Louis L’Amour (book)
- Luigi Games (will be Mario is Missing)
- Lego Games – Star Wars (PS2)
- The Division (PS4)
- Horizon Down (PS4)
- Puzzle
- Red Dead Revolver (PS2)
- Rings of Power
- The Flash
- The Pacific
- Walking Dead
- X-Files
- Yellowstone
As you can see, there is alot of variety to this list, so it provides my neuro-diverse brain different things to do. How do I choose? Popsicle Sticks app is my random generator app.
Of course, the rules that I made to help me stay on track are:
Shows: They will remain on this list for a season then put back to the other list and a new item is selected to take its place.
Books: I look up the author and am working through his books from their first book onward, once I am done reading that book, another selection is made
Video games: Once I finish the game the it gets replaced with another selection from the other list.
All the items that go back into the big list, will get selected again at some point.
It may seem confusing but its not when you start using it. It has evolved over time to how I use it now.
Tonight, I will be playing an hour of The Division and then another selection will be made, always something to look forward to.
Next post, I may start to discuss, the “to-do’s” selected and how I am enjoying them and what they represent for me.
Thanks for reading my posts so far, if you have any suggestions or ideas to add to mine, please let me know.
Stay safe and take care.
